MEET SAMUEL

I was born right here in Waukesha, and I’ve called it my home for 18 years. I hold a deep sentiment for public education in my heart, because of all of the opportunities and experiences I was blessed to take advantage of, right here in the School District of Waukesha, and I’m running for the Waukesha School Board to make sure the opportunities that were granted to me, are available for every student, only better.

For over a decade, we've faced declining enrollment, structural financial deficits, an achievement gap leaving nearly half of all students lacking proficiency in core subjects, and our current leaders seem either unaware of these challenges, or they are unable to address these issues effectively. I’m running to change that.

I decided to run for School Board after receiving overwhelming encouragement from neighbors, close friends, and colleagues encouraging me to do so. I believe that many parents, taxpayers, educators and even students understand the need for our district to change course, and finally solve the challenges in front of us— and a change in priorities can only occur from a change in leadership.

While every single candidate for the Waukesha School Board has established their livelihoods and families in Waukesha, folks like me are still navigating which School District and which community will be best for them in their place of education, raising their children, and starting their careers. I am running for the Waukesha School Board because I want Waukesha to be the place I raise my children and grow a family, a community I am proud to be a part of, and a city where everyone grows.

As a student I have taken half a dozen AP classes and tests, completed several standardized tests every single year of my elementary, middle and high school career, was prepared to practice safety and classroom hold drills, and I have used, tested, or was taught by the same curriculum we currently utilize for students. With this comprehensive experience and unique understanding of educational resources, technology integration, school safety measures, and daily student life in Waukesha schools—nobody is more equipped or knowledgeable than I am to address these crucial issues effectively, than myself.
